Aug 12, 13 and 14 the Sign and Dine was held at each campus to get the forms in order for strike payroll/benefit coverage in the event of a strike. The turnout was amazing. Thank you to all for the effort to come out over your lunch breaks.
Don’t forget if you were away that week the forms are available the documents page.
At the Table
The two sides that are sitting at the table have agreed to a Communication Blackout, We have nothing to report to you from the front.
The bargaining team was back at the table last week and will return to the table on the 27th of August until a decision has been achieved.
Until further notice report to work as per your normal schedule.
Watch the news for any information released over the long weekend, We will keep our web site up to date with information as we receive it.
At the College
A request for rooms on campus to accommodate Picket Line Protocol was sent to HR. The intent of the meeting was to inform members of their personal responsibilities and what is expected of them on a picket line. This includes guidelines on personal safety and the safety of the community.
Unfortunately, the College response was, “After some discussions about this request, the college is not prepared to allow the use of College property for this purpose.”
Watch for Local 245 communications early next week with details as to where and when the training will be held.
Please support your local mobilizers by coming out and showing your solidarity and determination to your fellow members, the college, the government and the public.
What do we want?
Respect and Justice. It's what we all deserve. To work in a safe environment where we are valued and treated fairly and with respect. We want our Collective Agreement with the employer to recognize and protect these principles. To this end we have set forth a number of demands for changes to our Collective Agreement. Click here for the OPSEU proposals list. or here for the PDF document presented to the College Counsel by our bargaining team.
What do they offer?
As little as possible. Naturally. For the College Council's proposal in PDF format click here. You can also view the College Council's web site here.

Important things you need to know!
OPSEU policy requires 20 hours per week of strike duties to qualify for strike pay. These duties can be just picket duty or a combination of Picket duty or sub committee activities. Please contact your Local Executive for more details.
Please complete Strike Survey Form 2008. This form asks you to provide personal contact information and your preferences of strike duties. It is important to complete the form to qualify for strike pay and so that we may contact you personally, without using Sheridan's resources, if needed.
